Snowboards that have Rocker Technology

For the 2007/2008 winter season, there are less than three snowboard companies producing snowboards that have rocker technology, although for the 2008/2009 winter season many more companies will be making rocker snowboards.

Mervin Manufacturing, the company that manufactures Gnu and Lib Tech has a pending patent on "Banana Technology", which is their rocker technology . Their rocker technology snowboards have the rocker between the bindings, and the board goes straight from the bindings to the nose and tail. Mervin Manufacturing's rocker technology snowboards have been ridden by Travis Rice, Danny Kass, Jesse Burtner and more; these boards include the following: Lib Tech Skate Banana, Lib Tech Box Scratcher, Lib Tech TRS Travis Rice Pro Model, and Gnu Riders Choice. During the summer of 2007, Danny Kass competed in the Abominable Snowjam in Oregon. He rode a Gnu DK Pro Model prototype that was using Banana Technology. After winning the halfpipe contest at the ASJ, Danny Kass became the first snowboarder to win a competition with a snowboard that has rocker technology.

The 2007/2008 winter season marks the twentieth anniversary of K2 snowboards. In recognition of this landmark, they decided to remake and sell their first snowboard, the Gyrator. This year's Gyrator is very differen from the original, most notable by the rocker technology used on it. K2's rocker technology has some unique aspects, different from Mervin Manufacturing's. The board is flat between the bindings, and from the bindings to the nose or tail, the board rises off the ground. This board was designed with riding powder as its main goal. Most of the 2006/2007 winter, K2 riders, such as Wille Yli Luoma, were riding the K2 Gyrator with rocker technology.

Stepchild Snowboards has announced that for the 2008/2009 season their jib board, which is designed with rails and boxes in mind, is going to use rocker technology.

Signal Snowboards has announced that they will be offering their 2008/2009 park board with optional rocker. Signal's rocker is like K2's, in that the board rises up outside the bindings. The Signal Park Rocker has the most extreme rocker of any board. It has a suggested retail price of $339, which is considerably less than other rocker snowboards on the market.

In the future, a much larger number of snowboard companies will be designing snowboards with rocker technology.

Rocker Technology Skis

Lots of ski manufacturers have chosen to put rocker technology on a select number of their 2007/2008 skis. Some examples rocker technology skis that are currently in ski shops include Armada, Salomon and K2. Rocker technology skis make riding powder much easier.
